Abstract
A multi-residual analysis for quantitation of methomyl, novaluron, spirotetramat, dimethomorph, iprodione, prochloraz, and chlorothalonil presence in pre-auction inspections to monitor the agricultural product wholesale market was validated. Seven pesticides and their metabolites were measured in leafy vegetables (lettuce, chard, and spinach) matrices and stalk and stem vegetable (chives and welsh onion) matrices to determine their selectivity, linearity, recovery, repeatability, and limits of quantitation. Acceptable values were obtained for 6 of the pesticides, while chlorothalonil detection exhibited low levels of selectivity and linearity. LOQ values for dimethomorph, iprodione, prochloraz, and its metabolite 2,4,6-trichlorophenol were 0.02, 0.06, and 0.04 mg/kg over 0.01 mg/kg identified in Positive List System (PLS) criterion. Vegetable monitoring revealed that 25 of 781 cases (3.2%) were within maximum residue limit (MRL), and 1 case (0.1%) exceeded over 0.01 mg/kg (PLS) criterion for prochloraz in lettuce.
